Despite being born in Scotland, Cummings now represents the Australian national team after previously playing for Scotland. He has had stints at clubs like Hibernian, Nottingham Forest, Rangers, Peterborough, Luton, Shrewsbury Town, Dundee, and East Coast Mariners, where he scored 30 goals in 49 appearances and helped win the A-League Grand Final.
