Eli Electric Vehicles, a relatively unknown company, is making a big splash in the electric vehicle industry with its Eli Zero microcar. This compact vehicle is designed for city driving and has now opened reservations in the U.S.

The Eli Zero may be small in size, but it offers ample interior space. With dimensions of 88.6 inches in length, 54.3 inches in width, and 64.4 inches in height, it can comfortably seat two occupants and provides 5.65 cubic feet of trunk space. Despite its compact size, the Eli Zero is equipped with an 8 kWh battery pack that allows it to travel up to 60 miles on a single charge. It also features a 3.2 kW onboard charger that can recharge the battery in under three hours at a 240V station.

In terms of safety, the Eli Zero prioritizes the well-being of its occupants. It comes with features such as four hydraulic electric-powered-assisted disc brakes, MacPherson front struts with an anti-roll bar, and an electronic parking brake. Additionally, safety belts with a seat belt reminder, a rearview camera, radar parking sensors, and an acoustic vehicle alert system are included for added security.

The Eli Zero is being hailed as the ultimate city car due to its small footprint and maneuverability. With a top speed of 25 mph and a road restriction of 35 mph, it is ideal for navigating city streets and running errands. The U.S. version of the Eli Zero has been upgraded to meet federal safety regulations for low-speed vehicles, making it street-legal for everyday use.

Eli Electric Vehicles’ CEO, Marcus Li, envisions the Eli Zero as a game-changer in urban mobility, aiming to improve transportation in cities by offering a cleaner and more efficient mode of travel that seamlessly integrates into daily routines. The company has found success in Europe and French Polynesia, with plans to expand its market to the U.S.

For just $200, customers can reserve their own Eli Zero, priced at $11,990. Deliveries are expected to begin in Q3 2024, making this affordable electric vehicle accessible to a wider audience. With its innovative features and eco-friendly design, the Eli Zero could potentially revolutionize city mobility and offer a practical solution for short commutes and errands.
