Emmanuel Macron had paid the price. Indeed, a rumor circulated that the candidate had a relationship with Mathieu Gallet, a French businessman. During a meeting at the Bobino theater, the current President of the Republic reacted with humor to silence the rumors.
“To put your feet in the dish, if in the dinners in town, if in the email loops, you are told that I have a double life with Mathieu Gallet or whoever it is, it’s my hologram who suddenly escaped me, but it can’t be me”, he said then, not without humor.
On May 7, 2022, in the columns of Le Parisien, Mathieu Gallet reacted to this rumor and these remarks. If he confides that he would have preferred to be warned before Emmanuel Macron speaks, he admits “it was good that he silenced the rumor, especially with humor”. “The target was him,” he insisted again, reports Femme Actuelle, based on information from the Ile-de-France daily.
A few days later, on May 12, 2022, Mathieu Gallet returned to this episode at the microphone of Europe 1: “The next day, he leaves me a message to tell me: ‘By the way, I talked about us!’ It’s funny because it’s a ‘we’ that’s totally fictional.”
He regrets today that this rumor could have reached the intimacy of the presidential couple and hurt Brigitte Macron: “it was a disgusting rumor to smear a man, smear a couple too because I think a lot of Brigitte Macron, she must have suffered a lot from this rumour.”
