Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas to Compete in Mixed Doubles at Roland-Garros
The world of tennis has always had its fair share of power couples, from Jimmy Connors and Chris Evert to Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi. The latest duo to capture the headlines is none other than Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas, who have been making waves both on and off the court for the past year.
After a brief hiatus, the Spanish and Greek pair are back together and are set to compete in the mixed doubles event at Roland-Garros. Their first-round match is scheduled for Wednesday against the Japanese-American duo of Ena Shibahara and Nathaniel Lammons. If they emerge victorious, they will face either the French duo of Cornet-Mahut or the pairing of Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Laura Siegemund.
While the mixed doubles event is a fun side project for Badosa and Tsitsipas, their main focus remains on the singles competition. Badosa, currently ranked 139th in the world, is set to take on her friend Katie Boulter in the first round, weather permitting. As for Tsitsipas, the 9th-ranked ATP player, he has already secured a spot in the second round where he will face German player Daniel Altmaier. Additionally, Tsitsipas will team up with his brother Petros for the doubles event, facing the Ukrainian-Australian pair of Molchanov-Smith on Tuesday.
