Vice President Kamala Harris is urging supporters in Georgia to vote early in the upcoming election, drawing inspiration from former President Jimmy Carter, who has already cast his ballot. During a rally in Atlanta, Harris pointed out that if Carter, who recently turned 100 and has been in hospice care for over a year, can vote early, then so can everyone else.

Carter, with the assistance of family members, voted by mail during the second day of early voting in Georgia. His grandson, Jason Carter, shared that the former president expressed excitement about casting his ballot for Harris, one of his final goals. Harris expressed gratitude for Carter’s support on social media after learning of his vote.

The presidential race in Georgia is currently tight, with former President Trump holding a narrow lead of 1.8 points, according to the Real Clear Politics polling average. Georgia is one of seven swing states that will play a crucial role in determining the outcome of the election. Trump won the state in 2016 but lost it to President Biden in 2020 by a slim margin.

The Harris campaign has not yet responded to requests for comments on the matter. Stay updated on the latest campaign trail developments, exclusive interviews, and more by visiting our Fox News Digital election hub for the 2024 election.
