France National Football Team: Traveling by Train to Metz, by Plane to Bordeaux
The French national football team, also known as Les Bleus, will be traveling by train to Metz for a preparatory match against Luxembourg on June 5. However, they will not be taking the train to Bordeaux, where they will face Canada. This decision comes after a previous dispute between the French Football Federation and the French National Railway Company (SNCF) regarding the team’s mode of transportation for friendly matches.
Why the Change in Travel Plans?
The decision to take the train to Metz but fly to Bordeaux was made based on sporting reasons, according to FFF President Philippe Diallo. Diallo emphasized the importance of respecting recovery times, ensuring performance, and prioritizing safety. With only three days between the two trips and some players still engaged in competitions, every hour of recovery is crucial.
Embracing Eco-Friendly Transportation
Despite not strictly following the initial plan of using trains for all trips under three hours, Diallo highlighted that 85% of the national team’s travels are done by train. This shift towards more sustainable transportation methods aligns with the federation’s commitment to environmental responsibility. By incorporating eco-friendly practices into their travel plans, the FFF aims to contribute to the global effort towards a greener future.
