Fears over Bears with ‘Taste for Human Flesh’ Spreading Terror in Japanese Island

A group of savage bears in Japan’s Hokkaido island are causing panic among residents as they appear to have developed a taste for human flesh. The notorious Oso18 bear, known for attacking humans and devouring cattle, was finally killed last year after years of wreaking havoc. However, similar attacks have been reported in the same locations, leading to fears of a new Oso18 terrorizing the region.

Last month, a giant black bear broke into a cattle shed and killed all the cows inside, while in Gunma province, an elderly couple was seriously injured by a wild bear that stormed into their house. The situation took a tragic turn when a 64-year-old man in Akita province was killed by a bear while working on a farm.

The lack of professional hunters in Japan has led to an increase in bear attacks, with 219 people being attacked in 198 incidents in the past year alone. Experts believe that the bears, who typically have a vegetarian diet, have turned to flesh after preying on wild deer due to the lack of hunting practices in the country.

The rise in bear attacks has raised concerns among residents and officials, who are struggling to control the aggressive animals. With the number of incidents on the rise, it remains to be seen how authorities will address the growing issue of bear attacks in Japan.
