Hicham Houdaifa to Join Jury at FIDADOC 2024 Documentary Film Festival

Renowned Moroccan journalist, publisher, and writer Hicham Houdaifa has been selected to be part of the jury for the official competition at the 15th edition of the International Documentary Film Festival of Agadir (FIDADOC) taking place from June 7th to 12th.

Alongside Hicham Houdaifa, the jury will also include acclaimed French-German filmmaker Anja Unger, and Senegalese artist Fatou Kande Senghor, both known for their dedication to the world of documentary filmmaking.

In a statement to the press, Mr. Houdaifa expressed his honor at being chosen to be part of the jury, looking forward to utilizing his extensive experience in documentary writing to contribute to the success of this 15th edition.

He also highlighted the significance of this event as a recognition of the efforts made towards the development of documentary cinema and the film and audiovisual industry on a national scale.

Praising FIDADOC and its “Documentary Hive,” he applauded the emergence of a new generation of documentary creators, videographers, and filmmakers who have been internationally recognized through such cultural events.

Hicham Houdaifa has worked for various Moroccan media outlets since 1996 and was a correspondent for Afrique Magazine in New York in the early 2000s.

As the co-founder of the publishing house specializing in journalistic essays, “En toutes lettres,” where he leads the Investigations collection, he has authored a series of publications.

In 2018, he launched the training program “Openchabab” with journalist Kenza Sefrioui, and more recently, “The School of Critical Thinking.”
