Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo made history by winning an Olympic gold medal in the men’s artistic gymnastics floor exercise final. But his victory was even sweeter as he also secured a fully furnished house as a prize. Yulo narrowly edged out the reigning Olympic and world champion Artem Dolgopyat of Israel to claim the gold with a score of 15.000.

The real estate corporation Megaworld announced the generous prize, valued at 24 million pesos (approximately $415,000), in celebration of their 100th year of participating in the Olympic Games. The two-bedroom condominium located in McKinley Hill, Taguig City, is a fitting home for champions who embody passion and excellence. Yulo’s win not only marked the first Olympic gold medal in artistic gymnastics for the Philippines but also the first for a male Filipino athlete.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Romualdez Marcos congratulated Yulo on his historic achievement, emphasizing the pride of the entire country in his success. The Philippines’ House of Representatives also recognized Yulo’s accomplishment by awarding him 3 million Philippine pesos (about $51,900).

Yulo expressed his gratitude and overwhelmed emotions after his win, acknowledging the support of his country and the strength given to him by God. Training in Japan since 2017, Yulo hopes that his victory will inspire others in the Philippines to pursue gymnastics and achieve their dreams.

With a chance to compete in the vault apparatus final, Yulo continues to showcase his talent and determination on the world stage. His remarkable journey from a young gymnast to an Olympic gold medalist serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for aspiring athletes in the Philippines and beyond.
