The team expressed deep sorrow over the unexpected death of Moronta and extended their condolences to his family. Moronta was riding his motorcycle in the Villa Gonzalez community when the accident occurred. He had recently been released from the Bravos de Leon team in the Mexican League.
Moronta began his professional baseball career with the San Francisco Giants in 2017 and had successful seasons in 2018 and 2019 with impressive ERAs. He later played for the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Arizona Diamondbacks before joining the Angels in May 2023.
The San Francisco Giants also mourned the loss of Moronta, offering their thoughts and prayers to his family. Moronta had a total of 177 appearances in the majors with a 3.05 ERA over six years.
