In northern England, police have arrested four people who entered the property of British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. “We arrested four people this afternoon on the grounds of the Prime Minister’s home in his constituency (North Yorkshire),” local police said on Tuesday.
Police officers were with the men within a minute of entering the property in the Kirby Sigston community, it said.
The four men, aged between 20 and 52, who come from different cities across the country, are in custody while investigations are ongoing, police said.
A video posted by the activist group Youth Demand on Tuesday shows a young man relieving himself in a pond on Sunak’s estate. On the back of the shirt of the young man seen in the footage is the message: “Eat shit Rishi!”
On their X profile, the group describes themselves as “young people” who are demanding “that the Tories and Labour commit to a mutual arms embargo against Israel and stop all new oil and gas licenses.” The incident occurred just over a week before the general election that will determine whether Sunak can stay in office.
Last summer, Greenpeace activists covered the British Prime Minister’s house with “petrol-black” bedsheets to protest against the awarding of oil and gas licenses.
Britain is in the midst of an election campaign ahead of the general election scheduled for July 4. The conservative Tories are expected to lose power after 14 years. Polls consistently show the opposition Labour Party of party leader Keir Starmer with a large lead over Sunak’s party.
