(Lausanne) Simona Halep, twice Grand Slam winner, will be heard on appeal in February to challenge her four-year suspension for doping, the Court of Arbitration for Sport announced on Tuesday.
The three-day hearing is scheduled for February 7-9 for Halep’s appeal against the International Tennis Integrity Agency.
The court set no targets for a verdict, which could take several months from a three-judge panel.
Halep was banned in September after an investigation into her positive test at Flushing Meadows in 2022, including irregularities in her biological passport.
Halep, who reached No. 1 in the WTA rankings in 2017, claimed that contaminated nutritional supplements were to blame for her positive Roxadustat test.
The European Union Medicines Agency says the substance stimulates the body to produce more of the natural hormone erythropoietin, or EPO, which has long been a favored performance-enhancing drug among endurance athletes.
Halep will be 35 when his ban expires in October 2026.
She won Roland-Garros in 2018 and Wimbledon in 2019.
