(Landover) Going on international duty for the first time since November, Lionel Messi scored twice as Argentina outscored Guatemala 4-1 on Friday to conclude their Copa America preparations.
Messi played the entire match after playing 35 minutes in a 1-0 win over Ecuador last Sunday in Chicago. He was then a reservist.
Messi missed two friendlies in March with a back thigh injury.
In MLS, he missed six Inter Miami matches.
Defending champion Argentina will begin the Copa America on Thursday against Canada in Atlanta.
The Argentinians also triumphed at the 2022 World Cup.
Lautaro Martinez also scored twice against Guatemala, 108th in the world.
