Hayden Springer made history on the PGA Tour by shooting a sub-60 round at the John Deere Classic. He started off strong with an eagle and four consecutive birdies, finishing the front nine with a score of 27. After recording five straight pars on the back nine, he finished strong with two birdies and another eagle, ultimately finishing with a score of 59 and 12-under par.
Springer’s impressive round put him four strokes ahead of Harry Hall and five strokes ahead of Kevin Chappell and Hayden Buckley. This marks the eighth sub-60 round shot across the world this year, with the PGA Tour record still held by Jim Furyk at 58.
This achievement comes just three weeks after Cameron Young shot a 59 at the Travelers Championship. Springer, who turned pro in 2019, has competed in 18 PGA Tour events and previously finished third at the Puerto Rico Open in March.
It’s always exciting to see golfers make history on the course, and Springer’s performance at the John Deere Classic will surely be remembered as a standout moment in his career. With more talented players emerging and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the sport, fans can look forward to even more thrilling moments on the PGA Tour in the future.
