A man was fatally injured during an operation by the special operations commando (SEK) in Hamburg.
As a police spokesman said on Friday morning, officers were alerted shortly before midnight by local residents “due to a male individual behaving abnormally.” When the emergency services arrived, the man is said to have suddenly shot at the police officers from his balcony. A special forces team was then called in for reinforcements.
According to police reports, the man then shot at the SEK. The emergency services shot at the man, but he died of his injuries at the scene, the spokesman said. As “Bild” reports, citing witness statements, the man is said to have previously set his father on fire. “t-online” also reports that another person was seriously injured.
No further details about the man were released. A homicide squad has been called in.
