The heat wave is making a comeback. Since Tuesday July 18, 2023, a heat wave has invaded the majority of the departments of French territory. Indeed, this rise in temperatures is caused by the heat dome that encompasses southern Europe. This phenomenon should continue on Wednesday July 19, 2023. Find out in our slideshow below if your department is concerned.
“For a few days, this torrid air from North Africa also concerns the south-east of France as well as Corsica”, announces the editorial staff of La Chaîne Météo. For the past three days, temperatures have been approaching heat wave thresholds. “Corsica, placed on orange alert, is undergoing the most lasting episode of heat wave, until the end of the week”, specifies the meteorologists.
Once again, Météo-France has placed 23 departments on alert. Among them, 10 are in orange vigilance and 13 are in yellow vigilance. The peak heat is expected to start around 4 p.m. and could last until midnight. Nevertheless, “the hottest day is this Tuesday, before a decline in this episode of very hot weather from Wednesday by the southwest”, announces the editorial staff of La Chaîne Météo.
The nights should also be warm between Tuesday and Wednesday July 19, 2023. Indeed, “the nights are tropical with temperatures of 20 to 26°C”, specifies the editorial staff of La Chaîne Météo. For the afternoons, the temperatures should be between 35 and 40°C. These can reach 41 to 42°C in some departments. Find out in our slideshow below which ones will be affected.
