HMD Atlas: New 5G Mid-Range Phone Leak with Impressive Specs

HMD, known for its entry-level phones like the Pulse trio and Vibe, is now gearing up to launch a new mid-range device called the HMD Atlas. This upcoming phone is expected to feature an FHD+ display and a sizable 5,500mAh battery.

The HMD Atlas will be powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, which can be expanded via a microSD slot. This powerful chipset will enable 5G connectivity, along with other features like Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, and NFC. Additionally, the phone will come with a 3.5mm headphone jack, a feature that is becoming increasingly rare in modern smartphones.

In terms of display, the HMD Atlas will sport a 6.64-inch IPS LCD screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. The front of the phone will house a 16MP selfie camera within a punch hole cutout. On the back, the device will feature a main 48MP camera, a 5MP ultra-wide lens, and a depth sensor, making it stand out from other recent HMD models.

One of the standout features of the HMD Atlas is its 5,500mAh battery with QuickCharge 4.0+ support. While the exact charging rate has not been revealed, QuickCharge 4.0+ technology combines the benefits of QC3.0 and USB Power Delivery. The phone will have dimensions of 163 x 75 x 8.75mm and weigh 210g.

The leaked image of the HMD Atlas shows it in an Olive Green color variant, and it is expected to be priced at $240. Compared to the lower-end HMD Vibe priced at $150, the Atlas offers superior specifications and is exclusive to the US market, similar to the Vibe model.

If HMD was still using Nokia branding, the HMD Atlas could have been considered a successor to the Nokia G400. The G400 featured a 6.58-inch 120Hz FHD+ display, Snapdragon 480+ chipset, 48+5+2MP cameras, and a 5,000mAh battery with 20W charging.

According to @smashx_60, HMD has more devices in the pipeline, including budget 5G models like the HMD Ridge and HMD Waylay, as well as high to mid-range 5G models like the HMD Xenon and HMD Skyline. Stay tuned for more updates on HMD’s upcoming releases.
