The online travel agency “weloveholidays” has carried out an analysis of how little a luxury holiday in Europe can cost per day. One rather inconspicuous country stands out in a particularly positive way.

We present the best destinations for a cheap luxury vacation.

You can have a particularly affordable luxury holiday in Romania. A night in a 5-star hotel costs an average of 85.11 euros per person. Two cities from Romania take the first two places in the entire ranking: Iași and Cluj-Napoca.

In Iași, number 1 in the ranking, a spa day on the weekend costs an average of 107.77 euros.

If you and your companion want to treat yourself to a three-course meal in a restaurant, you can expect to pay €30.37 for both of you. In Germany, that’s often not even enough for one person.

In Cluj-Napoca, in second place, you pay around 50 euros more for a spa day at the weekend, so a total of 156.96 euros. The cost of a restaurant visit is also almost 5 euros more per person, with an average of 40.49 euros for two people.

Anyone who is a little nervous about the safety in these cities can rest assured: According to the Numbeo safety index, the value here is 68.40 and 77.60 out of 100, which is in the medium to good range, and crime is not particularly high.

In addition, a third city from Romania is ranked fourth: In Bucharest you can also book a luxury holiday easily and cheaply.

The hotel would cost an average of 85.11 euros, a spa day at the weekend is 139.39 euros. For 44.54 euros you can treat yourself and your companions to a delicious meal in the restaurant.

Bulgaria is known above all for its dreamy nature and magnificent buildings – the perfect conditions for a holiday, especially if it is also affordable. The Bulgarian city of Plovdiv came in third place in the ranking, so you can really book a luxury holiday here at a reasonable price.
