Summer vacation is fast approaching. This year, they will officially start on July 7, 2022 for all school zones. After two years marked by the health crisis, the world of tourism expects a lot from this summer season. For the first time since the start of the epidemic, the forecasts have something to reassure professionals.
This year, 65% of French people want to take advantage of their holidays on national territory, as reported by La Tribune. Their favorite destination? The seaside. In fact, the coastal coasts “represent 50% of the holiday destinations observed in the forecasts”, specifies the economic weekly.
What if this year, you decide to use more ecological transport than the car to get to the sun? In this case, opt for the train. It is the most environmentally friendly transport.
According to the website of the Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME), it “pollutes 8 times less than the car and 14 times less than the plane (and the TGV 3 times less than ‘a classic train).”
Only downside, the price of the ticket is often more expensive than that of the plane.
Travelers are regularly outraged by the price of train tickets on social networks. According to them, they would be up compared to previous years. A point of view corroborated by INSEE. “The price index for passenger transport by train increased by 14.6%”, between April 2021 and April 2022, as reported by FranceInfo.
For its part, the SNCF ensures that tickets for long-distance trains “cost less and less”. The railway company certifies that prices have fallen by 7% on these routes since “since the launch of the new fare offer, in June 2021”, specifies the information site.
