A Honduran illegal immigrant, Junior Manuel Dubon Benitez, has been accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl in Iowa, according to Iowa court documents obtained by Fox News Digital. The incident allegedly took place in February and involved “sexual abuse upon Jane Doe, a 12-year-old child.” Benitez pleaded guilty in Iowa District Court in Black Hawk County on May 14 and was charged with sexual abuse in the second degree.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed that Dubon Benitez is a Honduran national who unlawfully entered the country through Hidalgo, Texas, in April 2022. ICE has issued a detainer with the prison holding Benitez, requesting that upon his release, he be handed over to the agency for removal proceedings.
This case adds to a series of crimes committed by individuals in the country illegally, further fueling the ongoing crisis at the southern border. Just recently, two Venezuelan illegal immigrants were charged with capital murder in the death of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray in Houston. Another incident involved an Ecuadorian national, who was arrested for a daylight sex attack in New York City, where he raped a 13-year-old girl with a machete.
Additionally, an illegal migrant from El Salvador was apprehended for the murder of Rachel Morin, a mother of five in Maryland. These cases are part of a larger trend of crimes committed by undocumented individuals across the United States, raising concerns about border security and immigration policies.
Former President Trump criticized President Biden during a recent presidential debate for the rise in crimes committed by migrants, attributing it to the lack of border control. Trump claimed that people are being killed in various states due to the absence of proper border security, referring to it as “Biden migrant crime.”
In response, President Biden defended his administration’s efforts to address border security issues and accused Trump of undermining bipartisan reform efforts for political gain. Biden highlighted the need for increased resources, such as fentanyl detection machines and additional border agents, to enhance border security and address the challenges posed by illegal immigration.
The debate underscored the ongoing concerns surrounding border security and the impact of illegal immigration on public safety. As the issue continues to be a focal point in national politics, the need for comprehensive immigration reform and effective border control measures remains a critical priority for policymakers.
