Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson recently reflected on a playful warning from her late sister, Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell, who passed away in December 2023 at the age of 29. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Alana shared that Anna had jokingly told her that she would haunt her if she wasn’t in nursing school.

Despite facing challenges during her first year at Regis University in Colorado, including the loss of Anna and her boyfriend’s father, Alana persevered and completed her first year of nursing school. She mentioned that the second semester went much smoother than the first, and she is looking forward to returning for her sophomore year.

Alana expressed her passion for helping people and her desire to become a neonatal nurse to work with babies. She emphasized that while she loves working with babies, she has no plans to have children of her own.

Throughout her journey, Alana has remained dedicated to fulfilling Anna’s wishes and pursuing her nursing career. She is grateful for the support of her family and boyfriend, Dralin Carswell, as she continues her education.

As Alana prepares to return to campus for her sophomore year, she is eager to make a difference in the lives of others through her future career as a neonatal nurse. Her determination and resilience in the face of adversity serve as a tribute to Anna’s memory and a testament to her own strength.
