Veterans Day, which commemorates the end of World War I, is being celebrated with various events throughout central Ohio. Originally called Armistice Day, this holiday was officially renamed by Congress in 1954. While many government offices and banks will be closed in observance of this federal holiday, there are plenty of opportunities to show appreciation for veterans in the community.

The National Veterans Memorial and Museum is holding a series of events with a $5 admission fee. Ohio State President and Navy veteran Ted Carter will be delivering the keynote speech, honoring the sacrifices and bravery of those who have served in the military. Additionally, in Gahanna, a Veterans Day ceremony will be taking place at the Gahanna Veterans Memorial, starting at 11 a.m. This event will include a brick dedication to recognize and honor the individuals who have selflessly served their country.

ABC 6/FOX 28 news anchor Stacia Naquin will be serving as the host for the Gahanna ceremony, adding a special touch to the proceedings. It’s important to take the time to acknowledge and thank our veterans for their service and dedication to protecting our country and our freedoms.

On this day, it’s a time to reflect on the sacrifices made by our veterans and their families, as well as to show our gratitude for their service. Attending one of these events or simply taking a moment to say “thank you” to a veteran can make a meaningful impact and show our support for those who have bravely served our country.

As we honor our veterans on this special day, let’s remember the significance of their contributions and the importance of recognizing their service. Whether it’s attending a ceremony, visiting a memorial, or simply expressing our thanks, there are many ways to show our appreciation for the men and women who have served in the military. Let’s come together as a community to honor and celebrate our veterans on Veterans Day and every day.
