The Tampa Bay Buccaneers recently sent a message to the residents of Florida as Hurricane Milton approaches the western coast. The team simply said, “Stay safe, Florida.” They have also relocated their operations to New Orleans in preparation for their game against the Saints.
In addition to the Buccaneers’ preparations, Tropicana Field, home of the Tampa Bay Rays, has been transformed into a base camp for Florida emergency officials. Governor Ron DeSantis has directed crews who were assisting with Hurricane Helene’s aftermath in North Carolina to return to Florida to help with preparations for Hurricane Milton.
Evacuation orders have been issued for most of the state’s western coast as Milton, a dangerous Category 4 hurricane, continues to churn in the Gulf of Mexico. Forecasters are predicting a possible storm surge of 10 to 15 feet in Tampa Bay, leading to evacuation orders for communities along the coast.
DeSantis emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, “Time is running out. There’s no guarantee what the weather’s going to be like starting Wednesday morning. Use today to finalize and execute your plan to protect yourself and your family.”
As Florida residents brace for the impact of Hurricane Milton, it is crucial to heed evacuation orders and prepare for the potential dangers posed by this powerful storm. Stay updated on the latest developments and safety recommendations to ensure the well-being of yourself and your loved ones.
