A woman has been fined 1,800 euros for entering a forbidden beach on the Italian island of Sardinia. Authorities caught her because she posted a video of her trip.
An influencer living in Dubai has to pay a fine of 1,800 euros for entering the forbidden pink beach “Spiaggia Rosa” on the small Sardinian island of Budelli. The woman, who comes from Brazil, had ignored all prohibition signs and reached the shore of the island in an inflatable boat, as the British “Guardian” reports.
Entering the beach and swimming in the sea has been prohibited since the 1990s. Tourists are allowed to visit the island by boat during the day and walk along a path behind the beach.
The woman had broken the rules and posted a video on her Instagram account @Rogeriaguiadubai showing her footprints in the sand while “La Vie en rose” by Édith Piaf played in the background.
The videos angered locals and a complaint was filed with the coast guard of the La Maddalena archipelago, which was able to track down the influencer, TheIndependent reports.
According to the investigations of the coast guard of La Maddalena, which also includes Budelli, the woman had rented the dinghy and the owner of the rental company did not know that she wanted to use it to travel to the island.
The fine of 1,800 euros was served on the woman in Dubai. Her Instagram account was set to private on Saturday.
