A Brazilian tourist and TikToker is shocked that she can pay for everything in China with the palm of her hand. Even a drink from the vending machine.
Brazilian TikTok travel influencer Marina Guaragna lets her followers share in her travel experiences. On a recent trip to China, she had a remarkable experience, as she recounts in a video.
At the supermarket, Marina Guaragna was able to pay for her purchases with the palm of her hand. The TikTok travel influencer couldn’t believe her eyes when she also paid with her hand at another machine. “China in the year 3050,” she commented. “Here in China, it doesn’t matter if you forgot your card, your cell phone or your wallet at home,” the shocked Brazilian wrote to her followers. “You just pay for everything with the palm of your hand. I can even pay for a drink like that. Isn’t that amazing?”
The British “Sun” explains the process: This method is part of the biometric payment system developed by the Chinese company Tencent and is particularly common in southern China.
Unlike traditional payment methods, this system uses infrared cameras to analyze the biometrics and veins of the respective hand. To use the system, you must first register with one of the company’s tokens.
When registering, a range of very personal information is requested, including name, telephone number, passport number and an active account with the WeChat Pay app, reports The Sun.
Many Americans look longingly towards Europe. Historical architecture, sophisticated metropolises and good healthcare are the most common examples. But Europeans’ love of travel also causes envy.
