An EasyJet plane takes off, leaving three passengers in wheelchairs. The incident occurred at Belfast Airport.
Flight EZY55 from Belfast to Edinburgh took off without them: three passengers in wheelchairs were left on the ground and had to watch as the EasyJet plane took off.
According to the Daily Mail, the affected passengers were standing on the tarmac at Belfast International Airport waiting to be loaded onto the plane when, to their surprise, the doors closed and the flight took off without them.
Liz Weir, a passenger who missed her flight, told the BBC she was travelling to an event. She described her experience as “exhausting” and “stressful” as she was not allowed to board the plane despite having plenty of time to check in and being escorted to the plane. The pilot signalled to her after the doors closed that she could no longer board.
On X she writes: “I’ll try again with a flight that leaves at 8:50 a.m. It’s bad enough when a bus leaves you at the stop, but when a plane leaves you on the tarmac…”
According to the Daily Mail, the airline EasyJet said in a statement that it regrets the incident and is investigating it. It is offering compensation to the affected passengers. It will contact the provider and the ground handling team to understand why this happened.
Lots of sun and rising temperatures are now the order of the day again. If you drive a lot, you’re probably relying heavily on the air conditioning in your car. Not without reason, as it cools significantly more and faster than leaving the windows open while driving. But you should still be careful.
