(Jacksonville) Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence suffered a sprain in the shoulder he uses for throwing, but coach Doug Pederson said he could practice later this week.
Pederson said Lawrence’s condition is “improving” but he still feels pain.
It continues to be evaluated on a daily basis.
The Jaguars (8-7) host the Carolina Panthers (2-13) on Sunday when they will try to end a four-game losing streak and stay in the playoff race.
Lawrence has started 51 consecutive games since the Jaguars selected him first overall in the 2021 draft. He has battled through numerous injuries in recent weeks, playing through a sprained knee, sprained ankle, concussion and now, a sprained shoulder.
He fell on his right shoulder while diving for a first down on a fourth down during the third quarter of the Jaguars’ eventual 30-12 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. Lawrence had difficulty raising his arm in the locker room after the game.
Lawrence struggled before getting injured, throwing two interceptions and committing a fumble. He completed 17 of 29 passes for 211 yards and all the turnovers he committed led to Buccaneers touchdowns.
