Gyllenhaal, who also serves as the executive producer, plays Rusty Sabich, a prosecutor accused of a murder he is investigating. Gyllenhaal revealed that he drew inspiration for his character from his godfather, Paul Newman, incorporating some of Newman’s habits into his performance.
