The Montreal International Jazz Festival will not end as planned next Saturday. Closing event headliner Macy Gray “unfortunately will not be able to attend this year,” the organization posted on its social media, citing reasons beyond its control.
In an email sent to La Presse, the Spectra team clarified that Macy Gray’s absence was linked to “an agenda problem”.
The funk group The Brooks and its guests, Dominique Fils-Aimé and Hanorah, will take the stage in place of the American singer-songwriter.
Montreal fans of the interpreter of I Try are not at their first disappointment. Last year, a show that was to bring together Macy Gray and Joss Stone at Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier was canceled due to the pandemic. They can, however, cling to a glimmer of hope: the Jazz Festival has indicated on Facebook that “it’s only a postponement”.
