Actor Kevin Spacey has successfully fought a civil trial regarding an allegation of sexual assault against him. The accuser claims that the incident occurred in 2008 and has caused him “psychiatric damage and financial loss.” The civil claim was put on hold after Spacey faced criminal charges, of which he was later acquitted. This development comes after the actor denied allegations of misconduct in a documentary aired on Channel 4 called “Spacey Unmasked,” featuring testimonies from multiple individuals.

Last year, Spacey was cleared of all charges related to sexual assault accusations from four men spanning from 2001 to 2013. One of these accusers, who remains anonymous, filed a civil lawsuit against Spacey in London’s High Court in July 2022, which was paused pending the outcome of the criminal trial. Recently, a judge granted the unnamed individual a “judgement in default” due to Spacey’s legal team’s failure to respond to the lawsuit on time. However, Spacey’s lawyer argued that it would be unjust for the claimant to win the case without a trial, especially after being “disbelieved on oath by a jury.”

Judge Jeremy Cook overturned the default judgement against Spacey, citing an error made by the actor’s solicitors. He stated that it would not be fair to hold Spacey accountable for this mistake. The trial date is yet to be determined, and Spacey was not present during the court proceedings.

Prior to the documentary’s release, Spacey spoke to former GB News presenter Dan Wootton, emphasizing that he would not allow himself to be unjustly attacked without defending his innocence. While admitting to past mistakes, Spacey expressed his refusal to apologize for fabricated or exaggerated claims made against him.

The outcome of the civil trial remains pending, as Spacey continues to address the allegations brought against him with a firm stance on defending his reputation.
