(Henderson) Tight end Darren Waller has been traded to the New York Giants, who will trade a 2023 third-round pick to the Las Vegas Raiders in return, two people with knowledge of the trade said Tuesday.
These people spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the announcement of the exchange has not yet been made. One said the Giants would give away the 100th draft pick, a pick they got in the trade to the Kansas City Chiefs for Kadarius Toney.
Waller, who competed in the 2020 Pro Bowl, will give Giants quarterback Daniel Jones a prime target and he will be an improvement on the tight end side. As a starter last year, Daniel Bellinger caught 30 passes for 268 yards and two touchdowns.
Waller passed 1,000 passing yards twice, in 2019 and 2020, before injuries slowed his offensive output the past two seasons. In 2022, he caught 28 passes for 388 yards and three touchdowns. Waller has missed eight games with a hamstring injury.
