(New York) Aaron Judge and Bryce Harper were elected Thursday as starters for the Major League Baseball All-Star Game to be held July 16 in Arlington, Texas.

Judge led the major leagues with 3,425,309 votes in the first round of fan voting.

The Yankees outfielder will participate in a seventh annual classic, including six as a starter.

Last year he missed the event due to an injury to his right big toe.

Judge also received the most votes at the end of the first phase in 2022.

A first baseman with the Phillies, Harper finished second in the big leagues with 3,277,920 votes.

He was chosen for an eighth All-Star Game, including seven as a starter.

His previous appearances were as an outfielder and designated hitter.

They were chosen under rules introduced in 2022 granting starter status to the player with the most votes in each league, during the first phase of online voting.

This voting began on June 5 and ended on Thursday.

Two finalists at all other positions advanced to Phase 2, including first baseman Vladimir Guerrero of the Toronto Blue Jays.

The second phase will run from June 30 to July 3.

Votes from the first phase no longer count towards phase 2.

A person can vote once in any 24-hour period.

Other starting players will be announced on July 3.

Pitchers and reserves will be revealed on July 7.
