A planned holiday on the island of Rügen ended in disaster before it had even really begun. A man strangled his wife out of anger because they could no longer get a room in the hotel they wanted. The police had to intervene.

A couple from North Rhine-Westphalia were supposed to spend a few relaxing days on the popular holiday island of Rügen. But when they wanted to check into their booked hotel in Sellin on Wednesday evening, they were told that there were no rooms available. This news suddenly turned the planned holiday into a drama. This is what the “Ostsee-Zeitung” reports.

Out of frustration and anger over the fully booked rooms, the 34-year-old man lost control and attacked his wife. He strangled her and ripped out her earrings. The 25-year-old then secretly called the police in tears and described the situation to the officers.

Curiously, despite the incident, the couple spent the night together in the car. The husband is facing charges of assault.
