A conflict between teenagers degenerated Friday evening in Montreal to the point where parents got involved, one of them rushing into his rival with his car.

The police first received a 911 call around 8:30 p.m. for a “conflict between teenagers” not far from the intersection of rue Notre-Dame Est and avenue Lebrun, in the borough of Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve.

Upon arriving on scene, officers located a 37-year-old man with significant injuries. Transported to hospital, there was no longer any fear for his life on Saturday morning.

Then another relative, a 34-year-old man, allegedly responded by driving his car at the 37-year-old man. Arrested by police, he was still being met by investigators on Saturday and could be charged with armed assault.

The security perimeter established on the premises was lifted on Saturday morning. The police continue to meet with the numerous witnesses who attended the event and will also view surveillance cameras which would have captured the scene, indicated a spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), Julien Lévesque.
