A 36-year-old man was found lifeless in Angrignon Park, in the South-West borough of Montreal, Monday afternoon. He would have died of an accidental cause.

The police received a call around 1:55 p.m. for a dead man in the northern sector of Angrignon Park, 250 m from the metro station of the same name. They noted his death upon their arrival, his body lying a few meters from the banks of a lake.

Until the evening, the police spoke of a “suspicious death”, before attributing his death to an “accidental” cause.

The man’s identity is not yet publicly known. However, we know that he arrived at the park on Sunday evening for a small party with friends. The people present there left the party in the evening, while the body was found the next day.

The police are therefore trying to understand what happened “between [Sunday] – the last time those around him saw [him] – and Monday”. Investigators went to the site Monday afternoon to meet witnesses and try to elucidate the circumstances of the event. The scene was protected by patrol officers and a security perimeter was set up, before being lifted in the evening.

An autopsy will be performed on the body in the coming days.
