Motorola Unveils 2024 Edge Phone with Lower Price and Enhanced Battery
Motorola has recently introduced its latest Edge phone for 2024, featuring several upgrades while maintaining the design of the previous year’s model. Priced at $550 in the US, the new Edge boasts a larger battery, IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, and a Quick Button for personalized shortcuts. Scheduled for release on June 20, the phone offers a 6.6-inch curved edge display with a 144Hz refresh rate and vegan leather material in Midnight Blue color. The Quick Button, similar to features on other flagship phones, allows users to launch apps or perform specific actions swiftly. Despite a slight increase in weight to 174g, the Edge includes a larger 5,000-mAh battery with 68W charging and 15W wireless charging. Internally, the phone is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7S Gen 2 processor, 256GB of storage, and 8GB of RAM. The camera setup remains similar to the previous model, with a 50-megapixel main camera, 13-megapixel ultrawide camera, and 32-megapixel front camera. However, Motorola’s pledge of two years of major software updates and three years of security updates falls short compared to competitors such as Google and OnePlus. The US model shares many similarities with the international Edge 50 Fusion, offering a competitive package at its price point. While the Edge (2024) lacks some premium features found in other models, Motorola may introduce a higher-end variant in the future, catering to users seeking additional performance or unique materials.
