This Sunday, seven representatives from La Belle Province were in action on the Val di Sole track, located in the heart of the Italian Alps, for the Mountain Bike World Cup. Raphaël Auclair (Pivot Cycles – Ote) was the one who obtained the best result with a 55th place among the men.
At the end of a technically demanding course, Auclair was 7 minutes and 34 seconds behind the winner of the event, the 38-year-old Swiss Nino Schurter (Scott-SRAM) who won his first victory of the season. .
South African Alan Hatherly finished second and Frenchman Mathis Azzaro completed the podium (46 seconds).
Also at the start of this race, Victor Verreault (Foresco Holding Proco Rl Pro Team) took 78th place (8 minutes and 49 seconds) while William Maltais-Pilote finished 87th (9 minutes and 8 seconds).
Among the women, Roxane Vermette finished her day in 62nd place (10 minutes and 26 seconds) while her teammate, Léa Bouchard finished in 67th position (12 minutes and 41 seconds).
It was the Frenchwoman Pauline Ferrand Prevot (Ineos Grenadiers) who won the event on the women’s side followed by the Dutchwoman Puck Pieterse (Alpecin-Deceuninck) (50 seconds) and the South African Candice Lill (1 minute and 13 seconds ).
Among the under-23s, Zorak Paillé finished in 59th place (7 minutes and 56 seconds) and among the women, Ophélie Grandmont took 72nd place (15 minutes and 18 seconds).
The Mountain Bike World Cup circuit will continue in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, from June 21-23.
