The Montreal National Day show is titled Une chance qu’on s’a, a nice nod to Jean-Pierre Ferland, who died on April 27. Hosted by Pierre-Yves Lord and directed by Pierre Séguin, the big gathering is marked by nostalgia. Claude Dubois, Roxane Bruneau, Patsy Gallant, Queenie, Daniel Lavoie, Kanen, Éléonore Lagacé, Judi Richards, FouKi and Le Vent du Nord will participate. The traditional Saint-Jean parade will take place earlier, starting at 1:30 p.m. The departure will be at the corner of Rachel and Molson streets, then the festivities will continue at Maisonneuve Park. For those celebrating at home, the big show will be broadcast at 8:30 p.m. on ICI Télé and TVA and, on the radio, on CKOI, the five Rythme and CIME stations.
In the National Capital, it is of course the Plains of Abraham which will be the scene of the Midsummer show. This will bring together on stage Mara Tremblay and her guests: Marie-Annick Lépine, Patrice Michaud, Paul Daraîche, Les Louanges, Ariane Roy, Waahli, Beatrice Deer, Matiu, Laurence Nerbonne, Mitsou and Galant, you waste your time. Under the musical direction of Antoine Gratton, the artists present will perform popular hits revisited. The Zébulon group will open the festivities at 6:30 p.m. The spokesperson for the national holiday in Quebec this year, Benoît McGinnis, will deliver the traditional patriotic speech. Télé-Québec will broadcast the show on delay from 9:30 p.m.; on the radio, it will be broadcast by Rouge FM and iHeartRadio.
The City of Longueuil plans to keep the party going with a double program. On the 23rd, activities will take place in the afternoon from 4:30 p.m. at St. Mark Park, before a show which will begin at 8:15 p.m. with a performance by Marilyne Léonard, one of this year’s Radio-Canada Révélations. At 9:30 p.m., it will be Dumas’ turn to take the stage for an energy-filled celebration. The end of the evening will be provided by a DJ who will play danceable French-speaking hits. The group Bleu Jeans Bleu will continue the festivities the next day at 9 p.m., with a concert at Parc de la Cité. Singer-songwriter Reney Ray will open the evening at 7:45 p.m.
The big National Day show in Laval will take place at the Center de la nature in the company of Zachary Richard, Ariane Moffatt, Galaxie, Laurence Jalbert, Marie-Pierre Arthur, Fanny Bloom, Safia Nolin, Kanen, Lumière, Ya Cetidon and Sensei H Directed by Ines Talbi, under the musical direction of Alex McMahon, and enhanced by the presence of Philippe Brach, the show will be preceded by a performance by Qualité Motel, which will get the crowd dancing between 7:15 p.m. and 8 p.m. 30. Then all the artists invited this year will take the stage, while Kim Lévesque-Lizotte will deliver the patriotic speech. The City of Laval is planning a surprise performance at 11 p.m. to replace the traditional fireworks.
Residents of Gatineau and surrounding areas will be spoiled for choice for Midsummer celebrations. In the pedestrian area of rue Laval, Corneille will host the National Day evening, accompanied by his musicians. Just before him, Gab Bouchard will take the stage with his Cool Band. Outaouais-born artist Claudie Létourneau will begin this evening hosted by Julien Morissette with her groovy alternative pop. On the Parc des Cèdres side, we will be on days 3 and 4 of the Outaouais en fête festival. The Boulay sisters will be headlining on the 23rd. On the 24th, Daniel Bélanger (who also celebrated Saint-Jean the day before in Terrebonne), Rosemarie Gauthier and Andréanne A. Malette will liven up the evening of the national holiday with songs.
