Olivier-Maxence Prosper has announced that he will add his name to the NBA draft list rather than returning to Marquette.
The 6-foot-8 Montreal forward announced his decision on Friday.
“Thank you to the Marquette Nation, my coaches, my teammates and the support staff for opening their arms to me from day one,” Prosper posted on Instagram. My time at Marquette has been incredible. That being said, I will be eligible for the 2023 draft. I am excited for what happens next. On to the next chapter…”
Prosper announced last month that he would go to the draft. He could have returned to school and maintained his college eligibility by opting out of the roster before May 31. Prosper’s announcement on Friday indicates that he will instead pursue his plans to become a professional player.
Prosper averaged 12.5 points and 4.7 rebounds last season as he helped Marquette improve to 29-7 and win the regular season and Big East Tournament titles. Marquette’s season ended with a 69-60 loss to Michigan State in the 32nd round of the NCAA Tournament.
Prosper played two seasons at Marquette after being traded from Clemson, where he had spent one season.
