Nelly Korda, the world’s No. 1 women’s golfer, unfortunately had to withdraw from the Ladies European Tour (LET) event in England next week due to a dog bite incident. She made the announcement on Instagram, explaining that she needed time to recover from the injury and receive treatment.
The LET Aramco Team Series tournament was set to take place in Hemel Hempstead, beginning on Wednesday and ending on July 5. Korda expressed regret in her statement, apologizing to the LET, sponsors, and fans for her absence. She did not provide further details about the incident or specify when she would return to competitive golf.
Last year, Korda clinched first place in the tournament, marking her third career win on the Ladies European Tour. Despite missing the cut at the Women’s PGA Championship in Sammamish, Washington, last week, Korda remains a prominent figure in women’s golf with two major championship wins and an Olympic gold medal.
While her absence from the upcoming event is disappointing, fans can look forward to seeing Korda back on the course soon. After the LET tournament, she is scheduled to compete in the Amundi Evian Championship starting on July 11. Additionally, Korda will represent the U.S. in the women’s golf competition at the Olympic Summer Games in Paris next month.
