Ilya Sutskever, the co-founder of OpenAI, has recently founded a new artificial intelligence company called Safe Superintelligence. The goal of this new start-up is to develop A.I. technologies that are more intelligent than humans in a safe and non-threatening manner. Last year, Sutskever was part of the Superalignment team at OpenAI, which focused on ensuring that A.I. technologies would not pose any harm to humans.

After his departure from OpenAI, Sutskever announced that he would be starting a new project, which has now been revealed as Safe Superintelligence. The company spokesperson, Lulu Cheng Meservey, mentioned that the focus of Safe Superintelligence is to create superintelligence that is safe and beneficial.

Sutskever, along with collaborators Daniel Gross and Daniel Levy, is leading this new venture. Gross, who has previous experience in A.I. at Apple, and Levy, who worked alongside Sutskever at OpenAI, bring their expertise to the table. Sutskever’s role at Safe Superintelligence is that of chief scientist, with a focus on driving revolutionary breakthroughs in the field of artificial intelligence.

The details of the funding behind Safe Superintelligence have not been disclosed, as Meservey declined to provide this information. She also mentioned that the company’s primary focus will be on developing safe superintelligence, and no other products will be released in the near future.

In November 2022, OpenAI made headlines with the release of ChatGPT, an advanced chatbot capable of answering questions, writing papers, generating code, and engaging in human-like conversations. This marked a significant advancement in generative artificial intelligence, which has since been embraced by the tech industry for its ability to create text, images, and other media.

As Safe Superintelligence begins its journey towards developing superintelligent A.I., the tech world will be closely watching to see how Sutskever and his team navigate the challenges of creating advanced technology that is both powerful and safe for human interaction.
