New York Yankees pitcher Domingo Germán had the 24th perfect game in major league history on Wednesday.
He struck out all batters in an 11-0 win over the Oakland Athletics.
It’s the first perfect game since Seattle Mariners ace Félix Hernández scored against the Tampa Bay Rays on Aug. 15, 2012. It’s also the fourth in Yankees history.
After two rocky starts, Germán struck out nine batters against the A’s, who have the worst record in the majors. The 30-year-old right-hander had never pitched a full game in his career. He had not won in six outings against Oakland.
