Eight young people aged 15 and 16 are said to have committed ten different crimes in Kassel since the beginning of April. In some cases they acted unscrupulously. The police are looking for possible other victims.

Following a series of street robberies and physical assaults, a group of eight young people aged 15 and 16 are being investigated in Kassel. As the Kassel public prosecutor’s office and the North Hesse police headquarters announced on Friday, they are suspected of having committed ten different crimes. These include seven robberies, some of them serious, two cases of dangerous physical assault and one threat.

Since the beginning of April, various street robberies have occurred in Kassel, in which the perpetrators apparently belonged to a group of young people. After several crimes on just one day in May, several young people were arrested as part of the manhunt. Further investigations ultimately revealed concrete suspicions against a total of eight young people from Kassel and Vellmar.

According to the information, all of the accused were searched extensively on Wednesday morning. Evidence and suspected weapons were seized, it was said. The investigations against the young people are ongoing. They are suspected of having committed robbery and assault crimes together and sometimes in different groups.

“These are by no means trivial offenses, but rather crimes for which the criminal code provides for a prison sentence of at least five years for an adult offender,” the investigators stressed.

Some of the crimes were committed without scruples. “Young people who commit such crimes also face severe penalties in the form of youth sentences – sometimes for several years – which are also carried out in a correctional facility in what is known as a closed system.” The police are looking for other possible victims.

Lots of sun and rising temperatures are now the order of the day again. If you drive a lot, you’re probably relying heavily on the air conditioning in your car. Not without reason, as it cools significantly more and faster than leaving the windows open while driving. But you should still be careful.
