(Los Angeles) Swimmer Katie Ledecky, seven-time Olympic champion, confirmed Tuesday, during the American selections, that she wanted to skip the 200m individual freestyle during the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris (July 26–August 11).

During these selections, which take place in Indianapolis, the world swimming legend won a 4th Olympic selection (after London, Rio and Tokyo) on Saturday by winning the 400m freestyle, before doing it again in the 200m.

But the 27-year-old swimmer said she does not plan to compete in this last distance, as she also won her Olympic ticket in Indiana in the 800 and 1500m.

“Nothing will be official until the end of the week because I still have to do what I have to do in the 800m and the mile (1500m),” Ledecky said.

“But if all goes well, I don’t plan to swim individually in Paris” over 200m, a distance where his last race in a major competition dates back to his 10th place in Tokyo in 2021.

“I will, however, swim (on this distance, Editor’s note) for the relay,” she clarified.

In Paris, the American, who won six of her seven individual Olympic gold medals, will notably try to take revenge on the Australian Ariarne Titmus, who dethroned her in the 400m in Tokyo. She will have another great rival in the person of the young Canadian Summer McIntosh.
