It’s official, the text will arrive in the upper house, starting March 2. Apart from a few details, the text of the pension reform transmitted to the Senate is similar to that which the government presented to the National Assembly.
However, certain essential points will be discussed by the senators. This time, the majority is made up of the right and the center. This majority is in favor of postponing the legal age to 64, it intends to vote for the reform, but after having taken care to modify it.
It will also be the time of calming and enriching the text after the heated debates of the National Assembly, it is moreover the wish of the President of the Republic who expressed himself during his trip to the show of agriculture: “I hope that the Senate can enrich” the text “with what seems useful to it”.
Indeed, some deputies also want more reflection and less aggressiveness than at the Palais Bourbon. As relayed by the France Info site, some deputies and senators have spoken about the debates: in the Senate, “we are not at the show”, thus warns a socialist, indignant at the sequence of the Palais Bourbon, who “n’ has not served parliamentarism, and which has made executive power appear as stability”. “With us, there are no rebels”, also like to point out several senators. The left of the Senate is “not going to insult everyone, make caterpillars and turn the napkins”, quipped a centrist deputy.
