The Riyadh Golf Club is gearing up to host the inaugural PIF Saudi International golf tournament in December. Presented by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), the competition boasts a generous prize pool of US$5 million. Scheduled to take place from December 4 to 7, the event will serve as the season finale for both the Asian Tour and the International Series, as per the Saudi Press Agency.

Among the confirmed participants are defending champion Abraham Ancer, 2022 winner Harold Varner III, two-time champion Dustin Johnson (2019, 2021), and Cameron Smith, the victor of the 2022 Open Championship. These top golfers will vie for the prestigious first prize of US$1 million, the most sought-after reward on the Asian Tour.

Noah Alireza, the chief executive of Golf Saudi, expressed his excitement about hosting this esteemed tournament at the Riyadh Golf Club. He emphasized the significance of the event as the culmination of the Asian Tour and the International Series, highlighting its continuous growth and importance with each passing edition.

Asia Tour commissioner and chief executive, Cho Minn Thant, hailed the new December date as positioning the championship at the peak of the season. He voiced confidence in the Riyadh Golf Club’s ability to provide a superb stage for showcasing the competition, anticipating a thrilling and captivating conclusion to the 2024 season.

Established in 2005, the Riyadh Golf Club stands as one of the premier golf courses in the capital. Boasting a challenging 72-par layout that spans over 7,434 yards of undulating fairways, the championship course has previously hosted various prestigious Saudi tournaments, including the Saudi Open, the Aramco Team Series, and the Aramco Saudi Ladies International. This latest addition to its roster of events further solidifies the club’s reputation as a top-tier golfing destination.
