(Pittsburgh) Goalkeeper Alex Nedeljkovic’s wish came true. He will remain with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Pennsylvania club awarded him a two-year contract worth US$2.5 million annually on Thursday.

The 28-year-old had an 18-7-7 record, 2.97 goals-against average and .902 save percentage in 38 games this season. Used extensively at the end of the campaign, his play helped revive the team in the race for the playoffs.

Nedeljkovic, originally from Cleveland, could have become an unrestricted free agent at the end of June. His return allows the Penguins to count on a reliable second alongside Tristan Jarry, who experienced difficult times at the end of the season.
