(Pittsburgh) Cam Sutton will get a second chance in the NFL, thanks to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Pennsylvania team agreed to a one-year contract with the defensive back on Wednesday, more than two months after he was released by the Detroit Lions due to an alleged case of domestic violence in Florida.
Sutton eventually turned himself in to authorities and underwent a pretrial diversion program, after the charges were reduced to an assault charge.
Sutton, 29, spent the first six seasons of his career with the Steelers before agreeing to a three-year contract with the Lions last spring.
Sutton had 65 tackles and one interception with the Michigan club, which won the NL North title before losing to the San Francisco 49ers in the NL championship game.
The Steelers have until now been looking for depth in the tertiary to complement the work of Joey Porter Jr., who shone in his rookie season last year.
