A recent poll conducted by CBS News has revealed that a majority of voters have concerns about President Biden’s cognitive fitness following the presidential debate on Thursday. The poll, carried out between Friday and Saturday, showed that only 18% of voters felt confident in Biden’s debate performance, while 44% were more impressed by former President Trump’s performance. Additionally, just 21% of respondents believed that Biden effectively communicated his ideas during the debate.

In a previous poll conducted in June, 35% of respondents believed that Biden had the mental and cognitive health necessary to serve as president. However, after the recent debate, this number dropped to 27%. Furthermore, the percentage of voters who thought Biden lacked the mental and cognitive health to be president increased from 65% in June to 72% following the debate.

When asked about President Trump’s mental and cognitive abilities, approximately 50% of respondents expressed support for Trump, while 49% were against him. Among registered Democrats, 55% believed that Biden should continue his presidential campaign, while 45% thought he should step aside.

The poor performance by President Biden during the CNN presidential debate has raised concerns about his re-election prospects, leading to calls from both Republicans and Democrats for him to withdraw from the race. The New York Times editorial board and the editorial board of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution have both urged Biden to drop out of the race. Following the debate, the Times’ editorial board stated that the “greatest public service Mr. Biden can now perform is to announce that he will not continue to run for re-election.”

Efforts to obtain comments from both the Biden and Trump campaigns by Fox News Digital have not yet received a response. The growing doubts about President Biden’s cognitive fitness for the presidency have sparked discussions about the future of his campaign and the upcoming election. It remains to be seen how these concerns will impact the political landscape in the coming weeks.
