A coalition of pro-Palestinian groups brought together a crowd of protesters in downtown Montreal on Saturday afternoon. Among his demands: the closure of the Quebec Office in Tel Aviv, and a cease-fire in Gaza.
Chants in support of the Palestinian people echoed through La Fontaine Park, where thousands of demonstrators gathered starting at 2 p.m. The demonstration, organized by the Coalition du Québec URGENCE Palestine, brought together people of all ages, student groups and various organizations, including Québec solidaire and the Fédération des femmes du Québec.
The demonstrators notably demanded the closure of the Quebec Office in Tel Aviv, reiterating their demand for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, where Israel has been waging a bloody war against Hamas since October 7.
The peaceful crowd crossed the Plateau Mont-Royal to the city center, ending up in front of the McGill University campus, occupied by a pro-Palestinian encampment since April 27.
